Scleranthus are native matt forming evergreen perennial herbaceous plants that resemble moss. One plant will grow 7cm high and up to 1m wide. Interestingly they do not grow flat but lumpy creating a minature hilly landscape. Grows in full sun or part shade. Needs well drained soil as it will rot in waterlogged or swampy soil. Plant with compost to improve waterholding capacity of poor soil as it isn't drought tolerant. Brockei has longer bright green leaves than the other slceranthus giving it a textured look Particulary striking with contrasting dark foliage like Ophiopogon Black Dragon.
