Coprosma rotundifolia has delicate soft round leaves on slender branches that gives this shrub a light feel for an evergreen. Endemic to New Zealand and grows naturally in the queenstown lakes area where they can be found growing under the canopy or on the edges of forests. Grows to 2 - 5m tall by 2m wide. Fruits earlier than other coprosmas with red or orange fruit borne from summer. As these plants are either male or female two or more plants will need to be within 5m to have fruit. Will grow in full sun but will need good moisture to do so. In drier conditions they prefer shade. They prefer soil rich in organic matter so use compost and mulch when planting. Hardy to frost.
