Coprosma dumosa PB6.5

$11.50

Common/Maori name(s):

Coprosma dumosa is a small leaved evergreen shrub growing up to 2m high and 1.5m wide. Form can vary considerably with some plants wider than tall. Growth is naturally dense and stiff as it is slower growing than other Coprosma. Endemic to NZ, can be found growing in the QT lakes district in exposed montane shrublands. We have found C. dumosa to be one of the earlier fruiting Coprosmas fruiting from February to April. Drupes are usually white but can also be found to be oranges, pinks or reds. We have found Coprosma dumosa to be drought tolerant but a moist, well drained soil especially in hotter areas will improve growth rates. Very frost hardy. We suspect that in montane areas seeds are consumed and seed dispersed by lizards. Birds may eat fruit especially if fruit is red or orange.
