Aristotelia fruticosa is a relatively common shrub in shrublands in the Queenstown lakes district and Central Otago. They are twiggy looking shrub with small evergreen leaves. These plants are tough and growing up to 2m tall they make a great filler shrub or low growing screen. They can also be trimmed into a low hedge. The spring flowers are small white cups and in late summer white - pink berries will form. These berries are favourites for birds and lizards alike. A male and a female plant will be needed to bear fruit so it's advisable to plant multiple plants. Happy in full sun, part shade and will tolerate full shade.
